Why hire instead of fly with your own kit
Two reasons: airline weight, and salt air. A two-body two-lens wedding kit weighs about 8–10kg. With backup batteries, a flash and audio it's another 4kg on top — past most domestic carry-on limits and into checked bag territory where things get bumped, dropped and lost. Hiring locally means hand-luggage only and a known-good kit ready when you land.
Salt air is the second one. Even one shoot near the Noosa beach can leave salt residue on your sensor and mount that takes proper cleaning to remove. Hire kit gets serviced between every booking.
Two-body, three-lens wedding kit (recommended)
A-cam: Sony A7S III (low-light reception, slow-motion B-roll).
B-cam: Sony A7 IV (high-res stills, family portraits, formals).
Lens 1: Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM (the workhorse — covers 80% of the day).
Lens 2: Sony FE 50mm f/1.4 GM (portraits, low-light, ceremony detail).
Lens 3: Sony FE 16-35mm Zeiss (venue wides, getting-ready rooms).
Audio for wedding film
DJI Mic 3 Dual Combo. Two transmitters (one on the celebrant, one on the groom or bride), one receiver into the A7S III. 32-bit float means you can't blow a take, even if the celebrant suddenly shouts. The 250m range covers any ceremony space we've ever been to.
Lighting for the reception
Godox V1 round-head flash. Bounces off ceilings nicely, lithium-ion battery lasts the whole reception, and the round Fresnel head produces natural-looking light fall-off — much better than a square head. Add a Nanlite Forza 60B II as a constant fill if you want to add a cinematic edge to the dance floor.
Delivery the day before the wedding
Free delivery within 20km of Noosa Heads — most wedding venues (Halse Lodge, Sails, Berkelouw, the headland weddings, Maleny day trips) are inside that radius. We'll deliver to your accommodation the day before, brief you on settings, and pick up the day after. Multi-day weekend rate makes this affordable.
